One house is in really great shape, actually, and will need cosmetic changes inside, but has a pool and a backyard that is b-o-r-i-n-g! So a lot of the work would be on the yard.
It's really cute, and I like the layout a lot. It would be easy to add on to in the front yard, and it already has curb appeal.
The cons: I hate driving up to a garage at the front of the house! It's rather small, 913 sq. ft.
The other house we really like - and it looks like this one is having some escrow troubles with the first buyer, so I've got my fingers crossed that this is the one. It's a total fixer, but it has a big yard, TONS of possibilities, and the neighborhood is fantastic. (the one thing you can't change about a house is the location!). It has 3 bd, 1 ba, and 1065 sq. ft, plus a really big backyard.
The cons: it needs a total kitchen and bathroom overhaul - down to the studs and start all over again. But you know, that's just the thing we like to do. It also has no pool, which is something we really wanted.
So now we just wait to hear -- and we're still looking, so who knows?
